Rightsizing the Organization

As
it term rightsizing implies the goal which to makes the company Stronger by
aligning the work force with the company’s current need. However in some
instants, organization have more work force than their actual requirement and
have let some employees to go. Rightsizing refers to intentionally reduction of
company’s work force to the point where the no of employees is deemed to be
right for the it’s current situation. This is also called as downsizing, well planned reductions in
the size of workers are a reality for many today’s companies. Although many
companies tend to begun hiring workers again after major lay off in 2009 and
2010, the rate of unemployment rate in the United States was hovering at around
7.9 percent in October 2020.
Even
though most of researchers have found that
massive cut of employees often fail to achieve desired benefits of the firm and
in some cases significantly harm to the organization. Unless Human resources department
effectively and humanly manage the rightsizing process, layoff can cause to decreased
moral and the performance. Managers also can smooth the process with frequently commutation , providing much
information as possible, providing assistance to workers who loose their jobs
and finally using training and development to help address to emotional need of
remaining employees and enable them to cope with new or additional
responsibilities.
Not
many companies got positive press for how they managed downsizing during the
2008 financial crisis. But Zappos.com did it. CEO Tony Hsieh used all technical
aspects to gather information and detail the generous benefits Zappos offered. Ample
employees pay based on length of service , six month of paid heath insurance
and 40 percent employees discount continued through the holyday season. “ Let take care of employees who got us this
far” said Hsieh.

We can see the rightsizing of organizations is not done by government sector. Some sectors have large number of additional employees and some doesn't have atleast the minimum number of employees. For an example, when we talk about government teaching appointments, there is a huge excess of teachers in urburn areas but, when we talk about rural areas, we can see that there are no teachers for compulsory subjects such as English, maths, and it.
ReplyDeleteRightsizing (downsizing) is indeed an essential part for an organization where it will reduce the staff cost and enhances the utility of the employers. We can see most of the tourism sector busiess are trying to downsize their workforce in line with the prevailing country situation.
ReplyDeleteThe main purpose of rightsizing is to minimize the company's cost to optimize its profits. Downsizing gives a chance to the company for scaling its operations down to a more realistic and manageable size. With regard to deep and powerful rightsizing, emotional and human impacts may become consequences that will cause the organization's brand level to fall.
ReplyDeleteRightsizing is a good tactic in a difficult situation for the company to perform. Its not the rightsizing employers should focus more on but, how they plan the future of the employees whom they are going to lay off or relocate.
